Doorway recently
received over £3,000 thanks to Cllr Ross Henning, the
former Mayor of Chippenham, who kindly selected us as his
nominated charity.
The
Mayor's Ball raised £1600, with more money coming as
a result of a sponsored parachute jump in Cirencester.
Salvation
Army Captain Mary Wolfe, friend Debbie Yarrow and Doorway
adminstrator Hannah Jones - none of whom had ever jumped out
of a plane flying at 13,000 feet before - raised over £1,000
thanks to their death-defying efforts!
"We
were in freefall for 5,000 feet" Mary explained. "That
took 3 or 4 minutes, during which you can't see or hear anything,
because you are just travelling too fast. But when the parachute
opens it is the most wonderful, extrememly peaceful sensation."
Doorway
would like to take this opportunity to thank the former Mayor
and everyone who supported the Mayor's Ball and the parachute
jump
