Doorway is, once again, appealling for tinned food to be donated from Harvest Festival donations.

Tinned food that is needed throughout the year include the following:-

Meat - eg ham, spam, corned beef, hot dogs, stewing steak etc
Chopped tomatoes
Baked beans
Soup
Tuna
Vegetables - eg sweetcorn, peas, carrots etc
Puddings - eg rice pudding, custard etc
Fruit - eg peaches, mixed fruit cocktail etc

Other food needed:-

Tea bags
Coffee
Pasta - eg spaghetti, fusilli, pasta shapes, noodles, rice etc
Tins of milk or cartons of long life milk
Tomato and brown sauces
Jam and marmalade
Cereals - eg shredded wheat, weetabix, cornflakes, rice krispies, ready brek etc
Biscuits
Chocolate bars

Doorway uses 9 tins of baked beans and 8 tins of chopped tomatoes every week during a breakfast session!

Doorway is currently in the process of establishing itself as an independent organisation. This means that the partnership between Develop (formerly CVSNW) and The Salvation Army is being dissolved.

One of the conditions of Doorway continuing to use the facilities at The Salvation Army Hall, Chippenham for drop-in sessions is that part of the rental finances include the sharing of food that is donated to us to be used for the new Salvation Army foodbank.

Therefore, some of the food donated to us will be used as food parcels for families or individuals who are in need, in addition to being used during drop-in sessions or distributed to Doorway guests as take outs.

Doorway is able to offer a speaker to address your church, school or group to explain the difference that even a couple of tins of food can make to the everyday lives of our guests. Please contact us if you require any further information.
