When
Ian's marriage broke down he decided to make a fresh start
by goint to university to gain further qualifications.
He
graduated with an HND and a Masters Degree.
This
enabled him to secure a high profile position working for
a large local company.
He
was extremely happy and looked forward to the challenges presented
at work each day. Ian was earning a high salary and lived
life to the full.
Unfortunately,
this came to an abrupt end five years ago when he was made
redundant. Ian was at a total loss and sank into a deep depression
feeling utterly rejected. These feelings quickly overwhelmed
him and Ian lost interest in life; forgetting to eat and do
basic tasks. He was unable to sleep and started to walk the
streets, wandering with no purpose.
He
went to a local church for a coffee morning and was directed
to Doorway which turned out to be a lifeline. Ian was made
to feel very welcome, finding the volunteers friendly and
non judgemental. He was able to have a cooked meal and spend
a few hours in a safe, secure environment.
Ian
is desperately trying to return to work but the depression
makes the pressure of a new job seem very daunting. However,
he continues to be supported and visits on a regular basis.
